HIGH COURT OF GUJARAT, AHMEDABAD

Examination & its syllabus :

Syllabus for District Judges Examination Gujarat

 

Preliminary Examination (Elimination Test) (To be held in the month of

August/September, 2011).

 

(1) The Preliminary Examination shall consist of 2 papers, each of 100 marks, with 2 hours duration, having Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) (objective type) based on the following syllabus :-

 

Paper-I English, General Knowledge & Awareness

 

(a) English Language

(b) General knowledge

(c) Current Affairs

(d) Indian History and Geography

(e) Basics of Science and Technology

(f) Sports

(g) Basic knowledge of Computer Operation / Application

(h) Analytical Reasoning /Mental Ability

 

Paper-II Law :

 

(a) General Laws and The Constitution of India

(b) The Transfer of Property Act, 1882, The Indian Partnership

Act, 1932, The Sale of Goods Act, 1930, The Indian Contract

Act, 1872, The Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.

(c) Legal Maxims

(d) Medical Jurisprudence

(e) Jurisprudence and Legal Phraseology

(f) The Indian Penal Code, 1860, The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, The Code of Civil Procedure, 1908, The Indian Evidence Act, 1872, The Limitation Act, 1963, The Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 etc.

(2) The language of Question Papers of Preliminary Examination shall be

English.

 

 

 

 

 

(II) Competitive Examination

 

Competitive Examination shall consist of (A) Main Written Examination and

(B) Oral Interview

 

(A) Main Written Examination:- (to be held in the month of October/November-2011)

 

(1) The Main Written Examination (Descriptive type) shall consist of two

papers, each of 100 marks, with 3 hours duration, based on the

syllabus given below :

 

Paper – I

 

1. The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973

2. The Indian Penal Code, 1860

3. The Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985

4. The Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967

5. The Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988

6. The Essential Commodities Act, 1955

7. The Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961

8. The Indian Evidence Act, 1872.

9. The Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of

Atrocities) Act, 1989

10. The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005.

 

 

Paper-II :

 

1. The Constitution of India

2. The Code of Civil Procedure, 1908.

3. The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988

4. The Indian Contract Act, 1872.

5. The Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996

6. The Specific Relief Act, 1963.

7. The Right to Information Act, 2005.

8. The Intellectual Property Laws

9. The Electricity Act, 2003.

10. Basic Laws relating to Environment.

- The Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.

- The Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972.

11. The Transfer of Property Act, 1882.

12. The Information Technology Act, 2000.

13. The Family Courts Act, 1984

14. Succession Laws, Personal Laws (Hindu, Muslim and Christian)

15. The Land Acquisition Act, 1894

 

(2) Language of Question Papers of Main Written Examination shall be

English, and answers of each question be given in English, if otherwise not

instructed.
