Gujarat Additional District Judge Examination Notification

1.(i) The High Court of Gujarat, in view of the guidelines of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in the case of Malik Mazhar Sultan & Anr. V/s. U.P.Public Service Commission & Ors. and The Gujarat State Judicial Service Rules, 2005 invites Online applications from the eligible Advocates, for filling up, by Competitive Examination, approximately 12 vacancies (existing and future) on regular basis and other ad-hoc vacancies that may be required to be filled in, in the cadre of District Judges, in the pay-scale of Rs.51650-1240-59090-1390-63260 + allowances as admissible under the Rules. The High Court reserves its right to alter the number of posts than notified.

(ii) The site for submission of Online application shall begin from 1:00 p.m. on 01/07/2011. The last date of submission of Online Application is 15th July, 2011 till 23:59 hours.

(iii) Preliminary Examination (Elimination Test) may be held in the month of

August/September, 2011.

(iv) Competitive Examination shall consist of (A) Main Written Examination and

(B) Oral Interview.

2. Essential Qualifications :

A candidate –

(a) must possess a degree in law from the University established by law in


(b) must be practicing Advocate in Courts of Civil and Criminal jurisdiction

on the last date fixed for submission of online applications and must have

so practiced for a period not less than seven years as on such date.

Explanation : For the purpose of this clause in computing the period

during which a person has been an Advocate there shall be included the

period during which he has held Judicial Office.

(c) must possess basic knowledge of Computer Application /operation, as set out by the Government in General Administration Department Resolution

No. PRCH-102005-1532-C, dated 30/09/2006 and CRR-10-2007-120320-

G.5, dated 13/08/2008.

3. Age Limit :

A candidate must have attained the age of 35 years and must not have attained the age of 48 years in the case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, Socially & Educationally Backward Classes, Disabled persons and Ex-serviceman and 45 years in the case of others, as on the last date fixed for submission of online application i.e. 15/7/2011.

4. Fees and Mode of Payment :

(1) The candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, Socially & Educationally Backward Class and Disabled Persons are required to pay Rs.

500/- plus Bank Charges and all others are required to pay Rs.1000/- plus Bank Charges .The candidates making payment of fees shall remit the same in Current Bank Account No. 30725811785 with the State Bank of India, High Court Complex Branch, Ahmedabad, held in the name of Registrar General, High Court of Gujarat, Sola, Ahmedabad, through any of the Core Banking Service branches of the State Bank of India using the Cash Voucher in the special format appended to this Advertisement, from 30/06/2011 to 15/07/2011 during bank working hours and days.

(2) Fees once paid shall not be refunded in any circumstances.
